The Typewriter Project – An Introduction (& excited me!!)

I AM SO EXCITED to be launching MY FIRST EVER BLOG PROJECT!!!

I cannot contain my excitement, I might be overflowing with it!

Anyways, yes. You read the title correctly (Well, I’m hoping you did), I’m starting THE Typewriter Project. Now, for all you curious beans out there, I will explain what all this excitement is all about and why we are celebrating (and then you can have your marshmallows). The Typewriter Project is something I’ve wanted to do for so long and with the help of May, I overcame my indecisiveness and DECIDED (I did, I actually did) to name it, write a post on it, and publish the supposed post. I know. brave.

Anyways, I wanted to start the Typewriter project and I AM! So let’s begin with what it’s all about because I know, the suspense is killing you.

The Typerwiter Project

What IS The Typewriter Project?

As you know (or maybe not know), I love to write and that also includes having some obsession with Typewriters (even though I haven’t got one) so I thought I’d combine my love for both things and express it on my lovely blog.

Essentially, the project is for all word lovers. You don’t NEED to be an author, or have written a book, or have a typewriter – you just need words.

The Typewriter project will consist of

  • words (obviously)
  • guest posts (hopefully???)
  • Contests
  • Teamwork
  • POINTS
  • FUNNNN (I think…?)

I want The Typewriter Project to be FOR writers and word fanatics SO JOIN IN (please, otherwise this will be a huge flop)

How will it all work?

So, you sign up on the Google Form, filling in all the information. The deadline for applications will be 17th May. Hopefully, that’s enough time for people to spread the word and this to be super popular.

After the deadline, I will send out emails to every applicant about all the information. For some rounds, there will be teams, and sometimes you’ll have to go it alone – it all depends. The tasks will be set each round, so perhaps you have to create your own fairy tale or work together to create a blurb for a story. Things you haven’t done before, things you never think about.

I will begin posting the rounds on the blog each week. Here’s the thing –> I don’t want to spam followers who don’t want to join so I might make a separate blog or just email everything to you guys. Let me know what you think of that.

There will be 5 rounds in total, so be sure to be invested. This will end on the 18th of June or somewhere around then, depending on how things go.

To submit things for tasks, you will have to email them back to me (any other ideas for this). Sometimes this will include attaching a document, taking a picture of something and enclosing it, or screenshotting something. It all depends.

Rules & How To Enter

To enter, just fill in this Google Form and we can go from there. There’s nothing much you need to do after that part from wait for my email!!!

Well, actually, there IS something you can do. I appreciate all the re-blogs, shoutouts, tweets, and anything else you can do to SPREAD THE WORD about this project. DO whatever you can –> I will appreciate you a lot

I know…Rules. I kinda hate them, to be honest, but they have to be made- BECAUSE WHO WILL BREAK THEM?

  • You don’t have to have a blog to enter
  • You need your email to participate
  • You must be willing to work in teams and participate
  • You must be polite and as creative as possible
  • You can be of any age (as long as you know how to write in English)
  • You must be following this blog OR my Twitter (just one of them)

I know the last rules sounds a bit needy, but I’m trying to get to 1k followers this year and I’m on 900 so please help guys.

Prizes, Points and Winners

So, the part you guys have been scrolling to get to, Yes, there will be winners and prizes, and of course points ( I really like points and scoring, it’s so fun???)

For each round, I will give the overall winner of the task (the one who performs best) 5 points and the rest 2 points for entering the round and submitting. If you don’t’ submit, you receive 0 points. For group rounds, I will award 5 points to each member of the winning team and the others get 2 each if work is submitted. The process is simple. The person with the most points at the end of the whole project wins!

There will be ONE ultimate winner and 2 runner ups. Here are the prizes they’ll receive –>

The Ultimate Winner –>

  • An Interview/Guest Post on my blog giving them the spotlight
  • A piece of blogging art or graphic (favicon, blog button, winner’s badge, name badge etc, digital plaque, ANYTHING GUYS..)
  • Having your story (Writing work) featured on my blog
  • 2 Free Blogging Printables
  • You get to make writer friends!!!
  • You win, duh?

The Runner-Ups –>

  • 1 Free Blogging Printable
  • Advertisement of blog on my sidebar
  • You had fun…?

  8. Your excitement is infectious! Count me in! 😁 Filling out forms on my phone is a pain, so I’ll take some time to get my laptop and fill that up.

  9. Hi! I’m definitely going to enter this, it sounds really fun! I’d like to mention my entering this on my own blog at littlesnippetsofthought.blogspot.com. I was just wondering – in my post, could I use the cover graphic that you used at the start of this post? I just think it would give my readers an idea of what this new blog series is about, and I would also link back to this post of course with all credits to you!

    Thanks!

    Chloe~

  12. This is such a fantastic idea omg. I was just sitting and thinking about how I love writing but struggle with deciding what to write on. AKA I love prompts. I’m totally going to submit an app! I’M SO EXCITED.

  13. Reblogged this on Sea Reads and commented:
My 3.5k word count Camp NaNoWriMo experience this April was not unsuccessful. Even if I felt that way initially, I am rewriting (hah!) my own narrative around the event, because any attempt at NaNoWriMo is always successful!

It may sound like hollow rhetoric when NaNoWriMo encourages you to feel good about only writing 10% of your goal, but thinking positively about writing and the effort you put into it–even and especially when you don’t get the results you were hoping for–really can help you. After my Camp NaNoWriMo experience, I have two options. I can tell myself, “Wow, you really dropped the ball on that one. Did you even try at all? That was definitely a failure.” On the other hand, I can choose to think, “Hey, in those words I found an idea I’m excited to explore more! I got two preliminary characters who I can start getting to know.”

If you were me, which of those two things would make you more likely to write again soon? The second? Exactly. The power of positivity counts for a lot!

So, with that in mind, I’m excited to get back on the horse by applying to join The Typewriter Project, an awesome writing project/challenge hosted by Mahriya at My Bookish Life! If this sounds like something up your alley, be sure to sign up ASAP, because the deadline for applications is May 17th! Come on and write with me!
